    Better than a Kun

I really like the Everest shoulder rest, because it grips the violin well and doesn't fall off. I've had Kun pads in the past, but in recent years they changed the type of rubber they use, and it causes the pad to slip off the violin frequently. The Everest also has solid rubber feet, so it poses no danger to the violin; on a Kun, the rubber will eventually wear down to bare metal. The Everest appears to be well-made, and even has thicher shoulder padding- very comfortable! 5/5 Karen Roberts "Chloebird" (Evanston, IL) - See all my reviews, April 14, 2011

    Good violin shoulder rest.

Putting this shoulder rest on the violin was easy, and I finally was able to hold the violin without my hands, the way the instructors say to hold a violin. 5/5 C. W. Joyner "C.W. Joyner" (Fernandina Beach, Florida United States) - See all my reviews, April 8, 2011

    Unbeatable Price to Value Ratio

I bought this for my daughter who has been playing violin for about 4 yrs now. This is high quality and excellently constructed with nice solid rubber legs that will not damage your instrument, I believe this is even better than a Kun she used to have that we paid almost $35 for. If you are comparing this with a Resonans TRUST ME, pay the couple dollars extra and get this, the quality is night and day, she had a Resonans and the exposed metal rivets damaged the wood on her violin, you will never have that problem with the EVEREST, she also said it is the most comfortable shoulder rest she has had and keeps the violin tucked between her chin and shoulder effortlessly hands free.I ordered mine on Amazon, shipped by "Everjoy Music" and it arrived lightning fast, second day after I ordered it, and that was with FREE shipping! 5/5 Michael D. Perfect for me

Do not assume that most expensive shoulder rests are the best ones. I tried Bon Musica $40 and Kun Voce $70 and none of them was even remotely as pleasurable to play violin with as with this reviewing Kun brand. Different people have unlikely shoulder with a different proportion to its neck. Some humans have long necks, another almost perpendicular shoulders, still others have gently rolling down with significant trapezoid muscle shoulders. So, my advice is this: go to violin shop and try all of their shoulder rests find one you like and if they expensive get one here on Amazon. 5/5 Vasya (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kun Collapsible Violin Shoulder Rest 4/4 Black Do not assume that most expensive shoulder rests are the best ones. Very Nice

I bought one of these for $44 at a music store. Kun has great quality, and the shoulder rest is perfect. It makes it SO easy to hold the violin between your shoulder and chin, and fits so well that you can totally remove you hand and hold the violin like that! Awesome! 5/5 Glorfindel (Middle Earth) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kun Collapsible Violin Shoulder Rest 4/4 Black I bought one of these for $44 at a music store. I got what I paid for.

This shoulder rest does the job, but it's not the most comfortable. The feet do have adjustable height, which is a must. Overall I'm satisfied with it, especially for the price I paid, but I'll be looking for a better one as soon as I have the extra cash.If you're a professional and are able to spend a little more on a nicer rest, I'd recommend doing so.If you are an amateur, aren't extremely picky, or are on a budget (or all three), then I'd say this is a good buy. 3/5 Linda "the fox" (Ventura, CA USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The BEST shoulder rest I'd ever had

This is the best! For almost the price of a Kun, not only its height can be adjusted to the highest possible among the various brands (up to 3 inches!), the padded-metal bar can be BENT to fit the contours of your shoulder! I spent an hour bending and trying out various heights and angles, and the result is an amazing fit! (I will still continue to explore to see if I can improve the shape further.) Storage in the violin case, however, may be a problem if you wish to preserve the shape as the legs still occupy considerable space even after being collapsed. Nonetheless, because it fits perfectly to your shoulder after the adjustments, this shoulder rest is very very comfortable and stable, and it's a customised shoulder rest that is truly yours and yours only! 5/5 Earthroamer "Roamer" (Singapore) - See all my reviews This review is from: Wolf Forte Primo 3/4 - 4/4 Violin Shoulder Rest This is the best! An excellent product, solidly made

I am a former professional violinist, and I still play a lot. I have used Wolf Forte Primo shoulder rests exclusively for over twenty-five years. They are extremely comfortable, highly adjustable to pretty much any physique, stay reliably on the instrument, are very well made, and fold up small for storage in the violin case. They are used by thousands upon thousands of professional violinists every day. I have never heard a complaint about their quality, and I can only assume that the negative review below is based either because the person got a lemon (very rare - I've never seen one), or somehow put it together wrong (I can't imagine how, though - it's very easy). I personally find the Wolf Forte Primo superior to the competition in all aspects. The only drawback used to be that on the old models the rubber that comes into contact with the violin was black and over time would leave black "skid marks" on the violin. But Wolf corrected this problem years ago by switching to a... 5/5 Hans U. Widmaier "Uli" (Elmhurst, IL USA) - See all my reviews, December 28, 2007

My violin teacher has one similar to this and it's been a great help to her. She suggested that I buy this one to help keep my violin on my shoulder, at the right height and angle. I did and now I wouldn't be able to play without it. I'm no virtuoso and learning is tough. With my violin staying where I want it, practice is so much easier and less frustrating. Good choice for all students as well as teachers. In short, I love it. 5/5 Yvette Sparks - See all my reviews, June 3, 2009

Best value for the comfort and functionality

While this is not a Kun, it works just as good as a Kun. I have two teenagers using this on Yamaha student violins and their report is that this provides ample padding and adjustable enough to provide the comfort even while playing more advanced pieces. Only difference is that this provides better value with cheaper cost for same functionality. It's been six months and the shoulder rest is working like new.Strongly recommended. 5/5 Neutralist (Virginia) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good violin rest

I don't always use a shoulder rest, but this one is good when I'm playing in a seated position. I still can't quite get it adjusted perfectly, but my doctor says I have weird shoulders. Oh well. It keeps my left shoulder from aching after playing for an hour or two. Good quality, serviceable shoulder rest. I'd give it 5 stars if I could've adjusted it to fit "just-right". 4/5 Smacco "Glenn W" (St. Louis, MO United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Excellent, Comfortable Shoulder Rest

I am a beginning adult violinist. I purchased this shoulder rest to find a comfortable fit for my violin, shoulder, and chin, after several attempts with standard shoulder rests. It is an amazing piece of equipment. It can be adjusted in numerous ways to achieve a customized fit. The extended, curved, left end can be bent to fit the violinist's shoulder and prevent the instrument from sliding off without requiring extensive down pressure from the chin. It is a little more expense than other standard shoulder rests, but it is definitely worth the price. I recommend this shoulder rest to any beginner who may be having trouble achieving a comfortable, relaxed bond with your violin. 5/5 B. Very comfortable, but inconvenient

This is a very comfortable shoulder rest, and with it I find that it requires very little effort (none, really) to support the violin. The only downside is the shape and size, which makes it very difficult to find a violin case that will hold it. Of course, the size and shape is also what makes it comfortable, so it's hard to get too upset about that.I'm giving it a 5-star rating, though, since anyone who reads my review will know what to expect going in, regarding its awkwardness. 4/5 David A. Not the same model as the one I've bought before! :(

I am sad to report that I was told that Christino no longer makes shoulder rests with collapsable legs due to a patent infringement issue. It is hard to believe that a hinged leg can be patentable -- multiple other brands have folding legs. You can see the original design at the moment in the photos on this listing. I already have two with the foldable legs as pictured. When I made a new order here, I was shipped one with the replacement design, which has non-folding legs with two screw holes to mount them with two choices for angles. One choice tilts the pad forward, one tilts it back. Neither of the angles fits me right, like the old design does. It's a real shame, because of all they were the most comfortable of the 3 kinds I've tried - a Bon Musica, and a Chinese Kun copy. By comfort, I mean, not just the immediate feeling, but I get no neck cramps after hours of use.The new design means they won't fit in the large pocket of my violin case without unscrewing... 5/5 A techno geek (Hawai`i, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) :)

I ordered this shoulder rest because it was the cheapest, but it ended up being a really good deal. it only costs about $20. though it is plastic it is fairly sturdy. The sipping is great!! I order the rest and it didn't ship till the next day but it came the day after that, so a total of 3 days from when I ordered it to when it got here. for what you pay for this rest It is a good deal. It is fairly comfortable and doesn't slip off. I haven't played my violin with it on for hours on end but from what I have played it has never even slipped any. It's design is also very good. My violin case is a hard shell and it is fitted for my violin, and it doesn't have much extra room, or big pockets, but I can still get the rest in my case and close it without any problems. All in all this is a great deal for your money!! 5/5 L. Hein - See all my reviews, August 28, 2009
