Hey there fans of shlocky horror. Welcome back to another week of auditions for a role that would usually be cast by grabbing some hot chick out of a strip club and giving her a week of acting lessons. Last week the girls did campy, Tai took leading lady, Hispanic was safe, and everyone else got chewed out in the Grand Ballroom. In the end it was Teenmom who went home, leaving us with five actresses. One of whom is STILL Pornstar. WTF, judges? I get that it was kinda funny for a little while, and a couple of weeks there were girls that actually performed worse than her, but there is no way in hell she isn't performing sexual favors for at least one of those judges to still be around. She's terrible.

We are talking about the girl who couldn't master the fine art of not putting tutus on your head...

We open in the usual fashion, with the safe girls sitting around all nervous wondering who will come back. Only this week its just Tai and Hispanic because everyone else sucked shit. Tai is stressed that Teenmom will be going home because thats her girl. Yeah Sorry Tai. Your girl was not so good at the whole acting thing. In walk the three safe girls, and Tai is disappointed that Teenmom isnt amongst them. Yeah, I hear ya Tai. She was kinda hot.

The other girls are super excited to see Weepy

Christine mentions that the judges thought she was distracted and not focusing on the acting challenges, while Weepy shoots her sad-daggers. Seriously though, does Weepy always look like shes in pain/trying to do hard math? When I was like, thirteen and a total emo drama queen attention whore I would sit around with that look on my face when I really really wanted people to ask me what was wrong. I know that look. Youre supposed to stop doing that at some point before you graduate high school, Weepy.

What? No, I'm totally fine. I'm just gonna go write in my journal and cut myself while listening to The Cure...

Pornstar talks about how the judges wanted her to have layers and now that shes gotten that critique she can fix it. Really? Cause youve gotten the bad acting critique on numerous occasions and youre yet to fix that. Lets all pray she doesnt think she can fix this by adding more layers of make-up to her poor face.

    ONIONS HAVE LAYERS!

Tai shows us all her astonishing powers of observation by stating that one of the five girls in the room is going to be the winner. Oh, and Tai took offense to my assumption that her boobies were fake in my last re-cap, so I did the responsible thing and rewound scenes of her jumping up and down repeatedly for hours and hours while carefully studying her fun-bags. It was tough work, but I am a dedicated recapper and I somehow managed to power through. After about the third hour I reached the conclusion that Tai should come play for my team. Oh, and also, the boobies are real. Ive fucked a lot of strippers with fake boobies in my time, and I know how real boobies bounce. My apologies, but she should really take it as a compliment. Most girls have to pay good money for a rack like that.

    Exhibit A

The next morning the girls meet up with Jamie for their skills test. Theyll be doing a scene in front of a green screen with invisible monsters. They are supposed to pretend theyre looking out the window of a penthouse suite (no no, put your clothes back on ladies, that just means top floor). Theyll look down, see some people on the streets, and then notice a giant monster approaching the window. Check out how much money Vh1 invested in their graphic pre-visualization

Yeah guys, just whipped this baby up on the ol' Commodore 64

They have to hit eye-line marks by following a tennis ball on a stick. My dog can do that, but Ill betcha twenty bucks that Weepy falls apart three seconds in. My dog also know how to wait until after I say "Fetch" to go get the stick though, so I assume I could teach him to wait until I said "Action" as well, making him much more intelligent than Weepy in all aspects of life. Also, I don't have a dog.

My imaginary dog also knows that Wyoming sucks

Hispanic says shes stoked on the challenge because she doesnt have to rely on anyone but herself. Weepy looks like shes gonna throw up, because there wont be anyone to blame BUT herself when she cant find her mark and winds up standing on her head three sound-stages over.

Christine is up first. Shes kinda meh. Her scared face looks a lot like an orgasm face.

Oh yeah, baby. Destroy that city! No no, destroy it a little softer and slightly to the left.

Hispanic is up next and kicks some serious ass. My only real critique is that she's dressed like she's auditioning for Flashdance.

I'm a welder by day and a dancer by night

    Seriously, they need to stop...

The Cuban art scene - buying art in Cuba

  • Sep 18, 2010 from architectphd(Oleg Viktorovich) in *
architectphd By Celeste Mackenzie | Canadian PressIf you venture into Old Havana, you cant miss the many art galleries among the elegant arches and columns of the restored colonial streets. And, if youre lucky, you may just come upon some of Cubas top artists at work there, or at least minding the shop.Given their often reasonable cost and ease of transport, Im always on the lookout for prints in Havana. Just roll them up and pop them in a poster tube youve brought from home. Now more than ever might be the time to buy Cuban art: the United States has been talking about lifting a ban that prohibits all but a few Americans from visiting the island and, if it does, prices will no doubt rise considerably.A good place to start the hunt for prints is the Taller Experimental de Grafica (Experimental Print Workshop) in the Cathedral Plaza. It goes by the acronym TEG and began in 1962.It boasts a wide selection of prints, mostly by younger artists, many of whom can be found working on their lithographs over stone matrices in the large, airy building. They will do their best to converse with visitors in English. The variety of colors, sizes, and content of the prints is wide, including pieces with recognizable Cuban icons, bold black and white woodcuts and whimsical colographies. TEG is open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.Ottawa resident Shane Rhodes, who visited for the first time in December, left a contented customer. The work on display is impressive both for its formal acuity but also for the broad range of artistic adventures - from experimental, one of a kind abstracts, to more traditional lithographs - you can explore, Rhodes said.Angel Ramirez, a master printer who also paints and creates mixed-media works, has collaborated with the TEG for over 30 years and describes it as an important meeting point for printers representing a wide variety of styles and formats.Ramirez own gallery is not as obvious, as it boasts no street sign. At No. 6 Obispo Street, just off the Plaza de Armas, take the staircase up to the second floor and youll discover his Taller de la Sexta Puerta (Workshop of the Sixth Door), where Ramirez style often evokes the middle ages - a bearded king and sombre colours are frequent features. Its particularly interesting to see how his style fuses with a number of other top artists he paired with in his unique series Dando y Dando (Giving and Giving). The gallery is open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., but call to confirm (860-6866). Pedro Pablo Oliva, ZaDida del RDios, Ernesto RancaIno and Roberto Fabelo are the other big names with private galleries on the second and third floors, but none have signs outside.Art has been a priority since the early days of the revolution, when Fidel Castros government recognized its importance in the forging of a new Cuban identity. The first generations of art students were trained with classical Soviet methods but, since the 1980s, there has been an increased expression of Cubaness or Cubanidad among artists.Among the post-Soviet graduates is acclaimed printer-painter Ibrahim Miranda, who spoke recently at Carleton University Art Gallery in Ottawa. He described a varied art scene in Cuba where artists also vie for shows and markets on the world stage. There is an artistic elite in Cuba that was trained in the 80s and 90s. These are artists who work with international galleries; who participate in the most important biennials in the world, and who are undertaking some of the most incredible projects you could imagine, Miranda said.Mirandas pieces, which can be found around the world including New Yorks Museum of Modern Art, depict afro-Cuban themes, ponder Cubas insularity, and often include maps. He encourages visitors to come to his studio in Havanas Vedado district after 2 p.m. Its located at Linea 810, between 2nd and 4th streets, apt. 9, Interior. Call first to make sure hell be there (05 258-6742).For a broader range of art there is the Museo de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Museum), which contains a vast collection by print makers, painters and other Cuban artists. Though the works are filtered by the regime, the national gallery showcases much of the very best of Cuban art from the 16th century to the present. Visit the gallery Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sun. 10 a.m.-2 p.m., C$6.Finally, exit permits are usually required to take art out of Cuba but galleries should provide these at no extra cost. You are sure to be asked for a permit if carrying a poster tube onto the plane.Galleries featuring Cuban art:Acacia, on the south side of the Havana Theatre, Centro HavanaCentro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, 352 San Ignacio, Plaza Vieja, Old HavanaFactoria Habana, opened in December at 308 OReilly, Old HavanaHabana, Linea 460 between E and F, Vedado23 y 12, at the corner of 23 and 12 streets, VedadoVilla Manuela, gallery of the National Union of Writers and Artists, H St. between 17 and 19, VedadoThere are also several galleries on Obispo and...
