The Worst 10 Guitarists of Bollywood

  Now we have had the Guitar as a symbol of uber-coolness and what Anu Malik would point out as The X-Factor in a dude, or even in a dudette. Bollywood has always tried to incorporate this instrument of uber-coolness into the character of our main protagonists on whose responsible shoulders, lies the responsibility of carrying the cool load. But more often than not, these shoulders tend to slip and the rather than looking like a confident weight lifter, they often tend to look like a malnutrition patient in an Atlas position [really horrible analogy I know]. Well, after all, our Bollywood heroes are not really good guitarists- not until Saif Ali Khan came into the scene and showed how its done [ just have a look at Piyu Bole for example, and you'll know what I mean ]. Neither can they mimic as passable mock rockers.
  Now I am a Guitar Hero addict, and cannot play a single song on the Guitar except for a few bass riffs. And whenever I see these Bollywood Guitar Heroes scoring with the chicks as they strum their fingers on the strings in a fashionable way which is miles away from the actual tune being played [ or sometimes they even don't bother to strum ], my blood boils [ a literal translation of a Hindi proverb : Khoon Khaulta Hai Mera ]. So, to take my revenge, here I list down 10 of those big criminals who have tormented me in many a nightmares in their horrible avatars.

  10. Bharat Bhushan Tum Bin Jaau Kaha ( Pyar Ka Mausam ).
  The confidence with which Bharat Bhushan jee strums that little Ukelele-ish instrument with his right pinky sticking out deserves a thousand claps. And he completely melts his wife with his music. Now, its a different argument that his wife is none other than Nirupa Roy. I love this song, and Kishore das falsetto is impeccable. But Bharat jees guitar skills are .. lets not really go deep into it. [Video Link: Tum Bin Jaau Kaha ]Shall we move on to the next one
  
  
  9. Biswajeet Lakho Hai Yaha Dilwale ( Kismat )
  Now, this is a song from that era of Bollywood which was washed away by the Beatles and Elvis wave. The jacket, the bow tie, the tight trousers, the high heeled pointed shoes and most noticeably, a club environment where a band accompanies our Guitar dude. Mohd. Rafi used to be the weapon of choice, but this song has Mahendra Kapoor on the vocals. So far so good. Until they decided that the dude will be Biswajeet. The accompanying band is called The Monkeys, and no wonder the lead vocalist dances like that [ watch the video, man, I dare you, I double dare you not to laugh ]. And then, just when you thought he couldnt do it better, he goes hands free [ near 0: 55 in the video ]. And then, back to the dance. ROFL.
  
  8. Tariq Aapke Kamre Main ( Yaadon Ki Baarat )
  I friggin love this song. It has so much Panchamdas awesomeness filled to the brim. And Kishore da and Asha jee have just done some chummeshwari performance on this song. But as always, there is a big Haddi in this Kebab. And that is the Guitar maestros killer onscreen solos. Now, I really dont know where to begin and in fact, I am quite at loss of words here. To compare this with Biswajeets song, I think Tariqs performance is almost 10 times the Ridic factor of the previous one.   7. Tariq (again) Chand Mera Dil ( Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahi )
  Again, one of Panchamdas spellbinding medleys [ which includes an 'inspired' Mamma Mia' ] which begins with a very lovey-dovey ballad Chand Mera Dil on the guitar. And Tariq kills it yet again. Oh the shades, the bell bottoms and the hair. Hahahaaha!!!!! What about the guitar? Screw the guitar. Heroes are too awesome to play it right.   6. Amitabh Bachchan Disco Bhangra ( Ganga Jamuna Saraswati )
  Now, I havent seen this movie. And I was introduced to this by Her Highness Pitu Jee on twitter. And it stayed in my head for quite a long time. It is possibly the inspiration behind this post. Yes, it is THAT ridiculous. Big B in leather (think MJ in Bad) , with an acoustic guitar , and dancing to yes Disco AND Bhangra. You never thought it would have been possible in this life. Well, that is why hes Big B. Oh, not to forget theres Meenakshi Seshadri dancing in a Banjara outfit, and some really fugly extras and to top it all Mohd. Aziz on the vocals. How to Tune Your Guitar with Your iPhone

  Musicians and Apple products go together like viruses and Windows: where theres one, youll find the other. Its no surprise then that there are a ton of really high quality iOS apps for music lovers.
  Today well be looking at a couple of apps that will help you tune your guitar in addition to a whole lot of other cool stuff. If you own a guitar and an iPhone, you wont want to miss this one!
  
  Gibson Learn & Master Guitar Application
  If you dont want to spend any money and just need a basic tuner, Gibsons app is the place to start. The interface is beautiful and tops just about all of the other free tuner apps out there.
  Though the app has many functions, the tuner is the first tool you see. Gibson provides you with two different modes that you can use to tune your guitar (show below).
  Gibson Tuner UIs
  The first is a nice chromatic tuner with an awesome faux-analog theme. As you pluck a string, the needle jumps back and forth exactly like the tuner in your guitar case. Simply line the needle up in the middle to tune the string. If youre used to using a real tuner, you probably wont ever want to leave chromatic tuning mode.
  The second mode is simpler and just utilizes a sharp or flat indicator on an illustration of the head of a guitar. If you activate the sound, you can tap on any of the tuners to hear the note. This allows you to tune by ear if you prefer that method over trusting the tuning software.
  In the options for the tuner you can choose between all notes to tune any string to any note, or choose a preset from a large list of popular tunings including Drop D and Open G.
  Gibson Tuner Options
  Metronome
  Even though this is only a free app, Gibson certainly wasnt cheap about the features; its actually much more than a tuner.
  The first button on the bottom after the tuner will bring you to a metronome. Again we see a really nice interface that emulates physical controls. When you hit the Start button the bar at the top slides back and forth at the designated tempo and makes a noise for every beat. The first note is deeper than the rest so you can easily distinguish where you are in the sequence.
  Gibson Metronome
  To change the BPM (beats per minute), simply slide the big knob in the middle or tap a tempo on the button at the top. You can also change the time signature and mute the sound.
  Chords
  Next up is a chord chart shown on a zoomed-in portion of the guitars neck. All the necessary indicators are present including fret numbers, finger positions and numbering, open strings, and strings that arent played.
  The screen on the right below shows the list of chords that you get to choose from. Several alternate versions are included for each chord (m, m7, 7, and sus), simply scroll down the list to find the one youre looking for and tap to see it on the neck.

  Unfortunately, you cant actually hear a sample of the chord but hey thats what your guitar is for right?
  Other Features
  It seems some of the logic behind releasing the app for free is so Gibson can advertise its Learn and Master Guitar program. The app actually comes with a number of sample videos for you to check out the series.
  Despite owning the app for quite a while, I had never actually taken a look at any of these videos until I sat down to write this article. I thought that they would be short video clips that lasted only a minute or two but it turns out these are full blown 20-45 minute lessons! There is a lot of solid theory here for beginners all the way through to advanced players. Be sure to check out the jazz guitar lesson, its packed with great tips.
  Gibson Video Lessons and Mobile Site
  The final feature here is a mobile version of the Gibson website. There are quite a few things to check out including instrument prices, articles, news and more.
  GuitarToolkit
  GuitarToolkit is so similar to the Gibson app it feels like more of a major upgrade than a completely different application. Because of its impressively beefed up feature set, GuitarToolkit will set you back $9.99.
  The chromatic tuner works just like in the previous app but feels tighter and has more visual indicators for how close you are to the center. As you can see below, there are also a couple of different styles for you to choose from.
  GuitarToolkit Tuners
  As you can see, GuitarToolkit has stunning interface thats definitely not short on visual flair. At this point, it doesnt seem too different than the previous app but the other features are where your money is really being put to use.
  Metronome
  On the surface, GTs metronome seems almost exactly like that of the Gibson app. You set the BPM by either tapping or turning the knob and the little arched indicator goes back and forth to the beat.
  GuitarToolkit Metronome
  Underneath, theres a lot more going on. For starters, you have a ton more time signatures to choose from, including 5/4, 6/8, and even 7/8 (if you frequently play in 5/4 and 7/8, youre better than me). You also have a bunch of different sound...
