I'm not usually a romance reader, but I loved this book. It's a story about two genuine soul mates who meet in high school. Separated by circumstance, their lives take them in different directions, but their love for each other never dies. As one character says in the book, "If it's real, it will last." It does last, and like a vintage violin, it gets richer and more beautiful with age and experience. Expect to shed a tear or two and maybe think about someone you loved like that. The book has humor too, and it recaptures what it was like to be in high school in the late sixties. Set in California, New York, Germany, Rome, and Austria, this book takes you to those places and inside the hearts and minds of its characters. I can still hear that violin as I write this.
