Classical Violin: Classical Violin Music For Beginners

  • Jan 27, 2011 from bigger2528(davis jamaga) in Entertainment
bigger2528 Classical music dates back to the Baroque era (1600 to 1750) that followed the Renaissance and was subsequently followed by what is known as the classical era. Baroque composers included Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Monteverdi, and many others you've no doubt heard of. It was during this period that music and instrumental performance expanded in both scope and complexity and opera was established as a new musical genre. The violin has the unique ability to convey emotion and is said to produce notes closest to the human voice in tonality.

Classical violin is typically associated with the orchestra and orchestral groups such as the string quartet in which all the members of the instruments family play a part. This instrument family includes the stringed instruments the viola, cello, and double bass and they all play a role in the orchestra. The violin is the real star of the show however and represents the largest number of musicians typically in two sections. The sections are known as first and second and classical composers generally specify the first violins to play the melody and the second are assigned the harmony or other deviations such as playing the melody an octave lower than the first.

Some well known classical violin pieces include:

Tchaikovsky's concerto for violin in D major

    Zigeunerweisen by Pablo Sarasate

Three Violin Concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach

Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor by Max Christian Friedrich Bruch

Violin Concerto in D major by Ludwig Van Beethoven

Concerto for violin in D major by Johannes Brahms

Although the violin was not initially well accepted as a valued musical instrument, it soon proved to be the showpiece of the orchestra. Into the 1800's many virtuosos proved the instrument worthy of its stature in the orchestra and in the hands of such masters as Paganini and Sarasate, The violin truly had a voice.

In these tiny masterpieces for piano and violin, young prize winning Chinese violinist Bin Huang is perfectly paired with her pianist. I cannot imagine a performance better than theirs. Refined performances of lovely works.

Despite Ms. Huang being ethically Chinese, I have never heard her live or on record, until I bumped into this album released almost a decade ago, and her more recent (2008) performance of the violin concerto 'Butterfly Lovers' on Youtube.Among the Chinese violinists currently performing today, Ms. Huang Bin clearly has the edge of not just techical perfection, but musicality. There are a number of 'magicians' in the younger generation of Chinese violinists, but none of them measures up to Ms. Huang's level of interpretative ability and musicality. The works showcased in this album are baroque favourites performed and recorded by numerous top violinists over the world and over the ages.Huang Bin's collection has its own fair share of lustre even among the best performances: the tone is exceedingly beautiful, the rhythms very well maintained throughout, nuances are well brought out and the collaboration with the pianoforte, played by Korean lady pianist Kim Hyun... 5/5 Abel "AMY" (Hong Kong) - See all my reviews This review is from: Baroque Violin Favourites / Vaious (Audio CD) Despite Ms. Emerald Forest Amber

The day I received this ring and opened it I wasn't quite sure whatto think of it or if I really liked it. I let it sit for awhile befor I actuallydecided to wear it. The first time I wore it I instantly took to it andthought it was a truly beautiful amber ring. The amber is a muchdarker green than pictured, (at least the one I received was) almostblack, but gorgeous nonetheless. When hit by light the colors changeto reveal a myriad of different green tones that are quite spectacular! This is a very large, very wearable ring. It will stand out whenever itis worn as it is extremelly different than the average and boring peicesof jewelry so common in todays market. I own the exact duplicate of thisring (bought from this same company) in the honey amber version andboth are just as incredible in their own unique way. If your searching fora standout ring thats going to make a statement I would certainly recommend... 5/5 Diana L. Rex "'Fairy Dancer'" (Southern Calif. USA) - See all my reviews, February 7, 2010

    Eloquence Australia

    Modern performances of arresting beauty.

This is a 2 CD set in which the performances on disc one were monaurally recorded back in the 1950's; disc two's performances are in stereo and were recorded in the 1970's. I purchased the LP version of disc 2 back in the 1980's and fell in love with it. This CD set was released in 2007, and for the sonatas on disc 2, this in their first international release on CD. The recorded sound is superb and the performances of these beautiful baroque sonatas are "modernized" by the performers; no harpsichords or baroque violins here. Grumiaux performs as only he can with fine accompaniment by Castagnone and Hajdu. The result is performances of arresting beauty that immediately grab your attention and don't let go. Get this set while you can. 5/5 Scott E. Peterman (Oneida, NY USA) - See all my reviews, February 4, 2008

    Grumiaux playing baroque gems

Grumiaux's elegant playing shines through this 2-CD set of Baroque gems from Australia Eloquence. Some of the sonatas featured here are released internationally for the first time. Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was a Venetian composer in the baroque era. Vivaldi was also one of the great eighteenth century violin virtuosos, or musicians with superb ability. This virtuosity is reflected in his music, which made new demands on violin technique. Vivaldi composed a great number of concertos, most of which were for a solo group of violins and a larger string orchestra. One of his most famous compositions was "The Four Seasons" which onsisted of one complete concerto for each season.
