Great for the price ***Useful tips for if you do purchase it***

Like so many others who purchased this, I did so because I have no experience with any musical instruments, but have always been fascinated by the sound of violins. I was very nervous considering some of the reviews, as well as some of the seller feedback. But I tell you what, I am very pleased with my purchase.A few points:Since it is such a well priced instrument it would be great if this seller realized a lot of the purchasers would be very inexperienced users. A small set of instructions would have been very helpful. I.e putting the bridge in, care and maintence, rosining the bow, storage, etc.All and all, when I recieved it, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. It is a beautiful violin. I did too also note the neck is not stained on the back, but that is not a big deal. My co-worker who is a professional violinist said considering what I paid, and where I got it, it is actually a good instrument. My only gripe is there is a piece of paper... 4/5 A. Excellent Beginner's Violin, GREAT Service from this store

I bought this violin for my nephew as a beginner's violin and was quite pleased with the value for the price, and it was an affordable way for him to have his own instrument and not have to rent or use a second-hand one. My sister did not realize that it takes a while to "break in" a new violin, meaning strings sometimes break, you have to be careful tuning, etc. and when she thought the violin was "no good" I thought it was a case of having to break it in but also contacted the store to see what the return policy would be. They were so GREAT that myself as a musician would buy from them for me personally again, I have played many string instruments for over 30 years and was quite impressed with the response (return no problem). Overall the service was superb they shipped super fast, kept me informed via email and followed up on the initial "problem report" which turned out just fine as the violin "broke in" and is turning out quite nicely for my nephew. I have not encountered this... 5/5 Donna Pearlman (New London, CT USA) - See all my reviews, May 2, 2005

    Excellent Beginner's Instrument!

I purchased this violin about a month ago. As a beginning violin student, the previous violin I was playing on was a veritable piece of cardboard with four strings. I wasn't advanced enough for a very fancy violin, and I was tired of renting, so I went online to find a decent violin on a budget. I came across many violins on Amazon, but this one was within my price range and it looked good and came with accessories, like a case, strap, and rosin. I received it about 5 days after I ordered it. The violin looked really good. But it did not come with a bridge attached. I had to put the bridge on myself, which was not all that hard to do. I thought that I would ask my violin teacher to do it, but I managed to do it myself. I started to tune the violin and it seemed okay at first, but the next day when I went to play, the strings were all out of tune again. I had to retune it all over again. I started to get annoyed after doing this a few days in a row. I thought that I had... 5/5 S. Better than average

I am a professional musician, music teacher and violin dealer. I had a problem getting beginner violins from my manufacturer in China, so I figured i would look at this Violin. First let me say that 98% of beginner violin selling in the USA for under $200.00 are Made in China. This one is no worse or better than factory violins retailing for over $150.00. Of course before I sell it to a student I change the strings and re fit the bridge. A decent set of strings costs me about $13.00 and a bridge about three dollars. You can learn how to fit a bridge on utube. So I have a total of 65$ in the instrument. I put it next to another mass produced best selling Violin from China retailing at $150.00 and it sounded better, but that is with new strings. This violin should get the beginner student through the first year of playing, then an upgraded violin would be in order, but so many people quit or just want some basic enjoyment that there is no need to spend $200. okay

This is my first violin and since I bought it cheap, I wasn't expecting much. My violin teacher said that it sounded just fine for being what the price was. Me and my violin teacher both think that it would be just fine for a starter violin. It didn't come with a bridge though and my E-string broke on the first try of it being tuned. Overall I was pleased with the violin but I wouldn't give it five stars. I will give it a three because it didn't come with the bridge which is pretty much the most important part of the violin if you want to get any sound out of it. 3/5 Harris - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) 5 Stars for a violin in this price range

I'll be honest, I only ordered this violin because I was curious. I have been playing for twelve years and recently decided it might be fun to try a new violin instead of the one I've had since I was a teenager. I ordered a couple of cheapies with Christmas gift card money (yay for gift cards!) and honestly, of the three I got, this was the best. Here's the scoop on this violin package:- The Case. You'll get a rigid foam case. It's not very high quality, but it'll protect your instrument when stored around the house. It has a nice pocket, a zipper, and space for two bows. I won't complain about the case. None of this stuff is very high quality, but look at the price.-Rosin. I like extra dark colophane rosin so I'll probably just throw this away, but that's just my preference. It's nice that it's here. I didn't try using it, but it looks like you'll have to score it a few times with a butter knife to get it going. This is normal.-The Bow... 5/5 Rorschach - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Go Violin!

I ordered this violin on a Sunday evening and recieved it the following Saturday at 9am with the cheapest shipping. This is, well, a cheap violin. You're looking at it because you're interested in getting a cheap violin. Why? I thought of the following:Decor, prop, for a child, to find out if you hate or have an unknown untapped talent for the violin, you think it will be fun, but don't want to spend a lot of cash on a whim.I'm kind of the last two, and I don't have piles of cash lying around. So I figured I can afford that, if I hate it then hey at least it would look pretty in a room of my house somewhere. So yeah, it arrived timely. The case... is cheap. There's like some glue on the felt in spots, wooden debris, the outer material feels a bit flimsy, but it's a case, and it will suffice. It actually looks soft-sided but it's firm. I kinda like it. My interior was red, not the tan.Setting up the bridge is really easy. I'm... 4/5 amarygma (MN, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Better than I expected!

I purchased this violin on a whim when I was reminiscing about playing as a child. It is a terrific price (cheaper than most toys...or at least the same price as a meal out with the family...) and comes with everything I needed to get started. I was pleasantly surprised that it came well packed and within the suggested time. I was also able to track the item through UPS. I panicked at first because I could not get any sound to come out of it and thought I had been sold a piece of junk. I went to the internet to see if I could figure out what was wrong and found that I needed to attach the bridge that was in the accessory compartment of the case. It was much easier than I thought. I found a great website that explained it all to me [...]and also has free beginning lessons and other important information that I have already found helpful. The other crucial key to getting sound from the violin is to have the bow rosined properly. (You also need to tighted the bow with the little... 5/5 L. I've been interested in playing the violin since about the age of eight, I am now nearly sixteen and decided it's about time to play. I did not start in earlier years because violins are regularly rather costly. Out of curiousity, I began browsing Amazon's selection of violins and stumbled upon this specific violin set. It is a great price, a beautiful violin and a wonderful set for a beginner. I ordered this violin on the 5th of July, I was told it would arrive between the 13th and the 18th. It came today, which is the 14th, quite a timely manner and in perfect condition. The violin was just like the picture, I am not at all disappointed. Though I have to say, I had an issue with one of the strings which broke on me while I assembled the bridge, which comes unassembled and without instructions. Being that I've never seen a fully assembled violin with my own eyes, it was a bit of a challenge to figure out how to assemble it. I at first thought the strings go through the holes that are... 5/5 Alaka Lalia R. Better than a Kun

I really like the Everest shoulder rest, because it grips the violin well and doesn't fall off. I've had Kun pads in the past, but in recent years they changed the type of rubber they use, and it causes the pad to slip off the violin frequently. The Everest also has solid rubber feet, so it poses no danger to the violin; on a Kun, the rubber will eventually wear down to bare metal. The Everest appears to be well-made, and even has thicher shoulder padding- very comfortable! 5/5 Karen Roberts "Chloebird" (Evanston, IL) - See all my reviews, April 14, 2011

    Good violin shoulder rest.

Putting this shoulder rest on the violin was easy, and I finally was able to hold the violin without my hands, the way the instructors say to hold a violin. 5/5 C. W. Joyner "C.W. Joyner" (Fernandina Beach, Florida United States) - See all my reviews, April 8, 2011

    Unbeatable Price to Value Ratio

I bought this for my daughter who has been playing violin for about 4 yrs now. This is high quality and excellently constructed with nice solid rubber legs that will not damage your instrument, I believe this is even better than a Kun she used to have that we paid almost $35 for. If you are comparing this with a Resonans TRUST ME, pay the couple dollars extra and get this, the quality is night and day, she had a Resonans and the exposed metal rivets damaged the wood on her violin, you will never have that problem with the EVEREST, she also said it is the most comfortable shoulder rest she has had and keeps the violin tucked between her chin and shoulder effortlessly hands free.I ordered mine on Amazon, shipped by "Everjoy Music" and it arrived lightning fast, second day after I ordered it, and that was with FREE shipping! 5/5 Michael D. To Each Instrument Its Own...

I bought a set of these strings for my student violin of which I continue to play with into college and after in a community orchestra. My student instrument tends to prefer the inexpensive strings and sounds better with them, hence my title to each instrument its own. But I find this set to be warm and beautiful like a gut set even though the strings are steel. On my more expensive instrument I prefer the Pirastro brand like Pirastro Gold and I feel as though the Prelude's compare. The Piastro Gold is sharper and deeper/darker with some brightness to it. The Preludes have the same warmth, but is more sweeter sounding than the Golds. Furthermore, it takes little time for it to acclimate than the Gold and is far cheaper. It may sound a little more muted than the Gold, but I'm happy with the projection of the Prelude if I can get a smooth, sweet, sound like I do. It doesn't sound broken or harsh, the Preludes are smooth like buttah and they last a long time (not as long as... 5/5 Danielle (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: D'Addario Prelude Violin String Set 4/4 (Electronics) I bought a set of these strings for my student violin of which I continue to play with into college and after in a community orchestra. Beginner's Best Friend

I recently started learning to play an electric violin and had to replace one of my strings. I had no idea what I was doing, but these strings were affordable and highly rated. So, I gave them a go. I'm glad I did! These strings will be your best friend if you are a novice player who has fumbled tuning the strings a time or two. The inside of the envelope reveals a color code for each string (G,D,A,E), and I had no trouble at all replacing my broken string with one of these for the very first time. The replacement blends in with the other steel strings that my violin came with. If you don't want your practice to be held up with a broken string, I highly recommend buying two or three of these packs for backup! 5/5 Jinxed Warrior (TX, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Nice strings for the price.

I like the tone these strings have, especially since they're lower in the price range. I have been playing for almost ten years, I'm still a student so I can't afford anything fancy, but these work nice in group performances. Great quality/price ratio!

Great violin? No. As nice as the ones the music stores rent for $25 a month, yes. Comes with tons of accessories that would cost you $30-40.As a violin teacher, I like to have these on hand for cheap entry level instruments, or rent for $10/month. That way a student doesn't have to get into a year contract at a local music store if they aren't sure if they want to stick with it or not.A great way to get started on the violin for VERY little money. After owning this violin for a year or so, the student can decide to invest in a nicer one, and pass this along to a sibling/friend/Craigslist.Only disclaimer is: make sure you have someone who can setup a violin for you (the case with all violins, regardless of quality). They are NOT instruments that can be played right out of the box, and if you have a store do this for you, it's probably a $30-45 fee. Much better than I expected

I wrote this review for the person who knows nothing about violins at all:This violin is of much higher quality than I ever imagined. It is not, of course, even a good violin by professional standards, but it is a very solid beginner's instrument. I bought it for myself, though I am not a violinist, but I have been playing guitar, bass, and keys for more than six years, and I have played violins before. My ex-girlfriend lent me her first violin when we were dating, and it was really, really horrible. This one is pretty close to her current violin, which was a pretty decent student model. I did a lot of research before buying this one, and I'm really glad I did. It is rated highly by violin teachers and other violinists, but very lowly by people who have no idea what they are talking about. I have read that a lot of violins under $100 don't even have a sound post, which is a crucial part of the violin and absolutely cannot be discarded. I have been playing for quite a while now, and am proud to say that these are the select strings to use. Be for I used to buy this pack of strings, for 80+ dollars, and now only forty two! Buy Now! Best Deal for the Money

This is the best set of string for the money. Dominants with a different E are the standard to which others are compared. If you are a student, look no further and buy these. Many of the greatest violinists ever use these strings. For the money they cannot be beat. You may find other, more expensive strings to be better for your specific violin once you are advanced and experiment, but the Dominants with a different E are the benchmark for the money. 5/5 T. Nice Sound

For my instrument, I'm actually in love with the Pirastro E string but the Dominants G, D, and A don't really project enough. They sound very nice, but I'd prefer a more deep sort of sound. Next time I'll likely go with the Pirastros all the way; very full and clear. 4/5 Kate - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Perfect for me

Do not assume that most expensive shoulder rests are the best ones. I tried Bon Musica $40 and Kun Voce $70 and none of them was even remotely as pleasurable to play violin with as with this reviewing Kun brand. Different people have unlikely shoulder with a different proportion to its neck. Some humans have long necks, another almost perpendicular shoulders, still others have gently rolling down with significant trapezoid muscle shoulders. So, my advice is this: go to violin shop and try all of their shoulder rests find one you like and if they expensive get one here on Amazon. 5/5 Vasya (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kun Collapsible Violin Shoulder Rest 4/4 Black Do not assume that most expensive shoulder rests are the best ones. Very Nice

I bought one of these for $44 at a music store. Kun has great quality, and the shoulder rest is perfect. It makes it SO easy to hold the violin between your shoulder and chin, and fits so well that you can totally remove you hand and hold the violin like that! Awesome! 5/5 Glorfindel (Middle Earth) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kun Collapsible Violin Shoulder Rest 4/4 Black I bought one of these for $44 at a music store. Great strings.

I discovered these strings by accident a couple of years ago when I broke a violin string and had no spares. A local music store had Pro Arte medium tension strings in stock and they were inexpensive, so I figured that I would buy a set as a stopgap until I could get a set of my preferred strings online.I noticed right away that the strings come packaged in sealed pouches, which is a nice touch, and that the ends of the strings are nicely finished. The sound is very sweet. A darker sound than many classical players prefer. I read another review that said that the reviewer hated the Pro Arte strings because they were dull. The reviewer was going back to Dominant strings. I find Dominant stings very loud, for sure, but it is a bright, glaring sound that I find that I am always trying to sweeten. I find Evah Pirazzi strings even louder and more glaring. If you, like me, find some of these more popular strings to be loud but overly glaring, you should try a set of... 5/5 Mark H. Pleasing sound on low-budget violin

I have an low-budget student violin, and started out using Red Label strings because they are inexpensive and indestructible. Red Label strings sound OK, but on my fiddle the D and G strings sounded harsh. After reading some reviews that said the D'Addario Pro Arte strings improve a harsh-sounding instrument I ordered a set of mediums, and I am very pleased. They sound markedly better than the Red label. The E is strong and clear without being shrieky, A is rich and solid, D sounds smooth and nice, and even the G string is much improved. G is still a tad harsh, but I think getting any more improvement means getting a better violin, and this is plenty fine for now. The Pro Arte strings are also more responsive than the Red Label, it's like I gained some dexterity. For $25 they are a bargain. 5/5 Carla J. Schroder - See all my reviews, April 27, 2010

    Nice sound, long-lasting, inexpensive.

When I got my used violin, the luthier who set it up said it had D'addario Pro Arte strings on it. I had no idea how long the strings had been on there for the previous owner. I had no experience with other strings, and since he seemed to think they were a good choice, I intended to buy the same ones when my violin needed new strings.Seven months later, the strings did not show signs of wear even though I practiced at least an hour a day, at least five days per week (sometimes up to 3 hours per day).I had my first recital in December, and being nervous, I wanted to do everything I could to get the best sound possible. I ordered Pro Arte strings (from Shar, an excellent company, btw), and after watching tutorials and reading about how to change strings, I changed them myself one night. There was immediate difference in sound. Vast improvement. It was beautiful, and I realized that even if the strings still look fine, I want to change them at least every... 5/5 Beautiful Dreamer (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: D'Addario Pro Arte 4/4 Violin String Set Medium Gauge When I got my used violin, the luthier who set it up said it had D'addario Pro Arte strings on it.
