    Bow Right for Violin Review

A few weeks ago, I purchased a product called the "Bow Right for Violin." As both a private and public string teacher, I have always been frustrated trying to get my students to play with a straight bow stroke that is parallel to the bridge. I have been pleasantly surprised by this product. It basically attaches to the sides of the violin (or smaller sized viola) and creates a lane that students have to bow within. For some of my students, we do a few warm-ups with it on and for other students, I have them use it for the entire lesson. Many of my students have commented that it really helps them feel what their arm should be doing on long bow strokes. I love this product and plan to use it in the fall for students in my orchestra class who are struggling. 5/5 String Teacher (Utah, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Bow-Right for 3/4 - 4/4 Violin A few weeks ago, I purchased a product called the "Bow Right for Violin." Think About It.

For a child who just can't seem to get the hingeing motion on the arm and wrist correct for tone production on longer bowings, this is just the thing. If you read "How Muscles Learn" you will find that repetitive correct motion works the same way for your large and small muscles as rote memorization does for your brain. It becomes part of your unconscious toolkit, and you can move on to bigger and better things. 5/5 M. Shepherd - See all my reviews, August 23, 2006

Thanks to the other people who put in a review, as I wouldn't have bought it for my daughter. Excellant tool! Katie Dion's mom 5/5 Deborah L. Great first time violin

My 12 year old daughter wanted a violin just out of the blue. Violins can be very expensive, yet being able to purchase a new one with colors to choose from for a fickle 12 year old girl at this price was an easy decision. The package came quick with everything expected, and the violin was not cheaply made. Yes if she ever learns to play, most likely she'll gravitate to one that will cost more, but for the money every parent can afford to by their kids an instrument to keep them interested in music and learning to play. 5/5 Randy The Painter - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Mendini MV200 3/4 Violin

I up graded the string, set the bridge, use some peg drops and this violin sounds great, looks great. The bow, shoulder rest is good and the case great. Very nice and will be used by my granddaughter. I actually enjoy playing it. :>)For $58.00 it was a very good deal. The upgraded strings were $30.00 plus updated the tail piece for $18.00 to hold the higher tension of the strings. So for $116.00 we have a very nice sounding violin. The chinrest is good, the pegs work well. Very pleased. No one should buy an inexpensive Chinese violin without upgrading the strings and possible the tailpiece but after that they generally sound as good or if not better than violin 3 -4 time more money. 4/5 NJ - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Arrived broken....

The one we ordered came with a huge split in the wood connecting the neck to the body of the violin. Overall very poor quality even if it wouldn't have been damaged. We returned it and ordered the Cremona SV-225 Premier Student Violin, 3/4-Size. It is a much better quality instrument. 1/5 C. Taylor - See all my reviews, September 8, 2011

Perfect for my 11 year old. No complaint. A friend of mine lent us his $2000 violin and after tuning this one, it sounds almost just as good as my friend's violin side by side. 5/5 H. Tran "Blue Thunder" (Fairfax, VA) - See all my reviews, May 12, 2008

    Great item

We love the violin. It came with so many items that we were quite surprised. The tuning of the violin for the first week was tough. I think it just needed to be broken in. Now it works great. Her violin instructor is also impressed with the quality and sound. The price was fantastic for all that you get. I would absolutely recommend this product. 5/5 arysea (Kentucky) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) A nice starter violin

I bought this for my 9 year-old and have not been disappointed. I was worried that for the price the instrument might not hold up, but it has done well. The only negative comment I have is that the pegs move a little too easily and don't hold their pitch as well as I would like. I also bought her a nicer bow, which made a big difference in her sound. Overall, a fine beginner instrument. 4/5 S. Ferguson - See all my reviews, April 29, 2010

    Poor quality & return process

We purchased this violin thinking it would be a good "starter" to see if my son enjoyed playing the violin enough to buy or rent a good one. It looked good, but unfortunately his teacher said it wouldn't hold a tune even through one lesson. So I contently decided to return it October 1st after 2 weeks assuming I would have a hassle-free return. What I was really unsatisfied with was Austin Bazaar's return process, which took over 7 weeks, during which time they only contacted me once to request that I "remove my comments from Amazon" (all I had done was click "Leave Seller Feedback"), and to say the delay was probably due to something I had done wrong or that it had only been a couple days since they received it. I followed strictly all their return requirements and shipped it back with Delivery Confirmation and insurance (USPS). Austin Bazaar received and signed for the violin at 9:47am on OCTOBER 5th. They never responded again to my emails, and I just received notice... 2/5 Angie (MN, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Just fine for a student

We bought this for our 11 year old niece to use for her music class. It works just fine and she's quite happy with it, no complaints from her teacher either. Fresh out of the box you'll have to give the tuners and strings some time to break in, but that's life with stringed instruments. The bow on ours had some loose strands, so you may have to do some trimming. The finish isn't particularly outstanding but totally acceptable at this price point. Tone and playability are just fine. No one will confuse this with a Sradivarius, but it will allow a beginning student to learn how to play. That's the point of an instrument at this price point, and so within that context this is a five star purchase. Does exactly what it needs to, and if the whole thing doesn't work out you haven't blown a huge chunk of money. For the price I was also impressed with the case; its fairly sturdy, holds two bows and has extra storage. This is a great value overall. 5/5 Philip Williams (Loganville, GA USA) - See all my reviews, September 17, 2010
