VERY handy tripod, and very, very cute

I own one of these tripods. It's quite hard to resist buying it, once you've seen it unfold. All you do is undo a few bungee cords, hold the thing by the ballhead, and watch it assemble itself! You then have to screw your camera onto the tripod, and you're ready to go. 5 seconds to deploy the tripod, and 10-15 seconds to mount your camera. Pretty great! Why not five stars? You really have to use a self-timer or a remote trigger to use the tripod. Although the tripod is sturdy enough to hold a decent weight (unlike one of the reviewers, I don't have any qualms that the thing is going to fall apart), there's a slight wobble when you touch the camera once it's mounted. Mind you, my other tripods are Gitzos (only 11 times more expensive, and heavier), but you do need to take this into account when using the zipshot. Why does it wobble? Because the leg elements attach to the ballhead with a bungee cord; the platform is only as stable as the cord. This tripod... 4/5 R. OK for what it is

This tripod has a lot of potential. It is extremely light weight (which is why I bought it), so it can be carried around on hikes without being noticed too much. It is fast to set up, just unclip the elastic holders, hold it by the ballhead, and watch it snap into place. Viola! Easy as pie. I do like that. So cool! However, sturdiness is an issue. In fact, it is a bit flimsy. I read a lot of reviews on this, and this was the main complaint, so I kind of knew what I was getting, but still you have hope that the reviewers were being a bit picky. Not so. They told it as it is. For instance, I put my Olympus E-520 with a 40-150 mm zoom on it (I'd say about 2.6 lbs), tilted it 90 degrees to portrait, tightened the head as tight as it would go, but gravity soon pulled the lense and camera downward just a little. The specs say it can hold up to 3 lbs., but I think that is pushing the limits. Anyway, while trying to readjust the camera to where I wanted it, the legs slid... 3/5 Gras Duibh (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews This review is from: Tamrac TR406 ZipShot Compact Ultra-Light Instant Tripod (Electronics) This tripod has a lot of potential. for on the go photo folks-

I purchased this the moment I saw it. I wanted to be hesitant because of the price, but figured if it does what it claims, it's perfect for what I want it for. I have a manfrotto compact tripod that folds to just a bit longer than my camera bag. It's got a pistol grip and doesn't weigh too much. I rarely used it because it ended up being a pain to set up and take down and boy does gear get heavy when you drag it all around. I will use the manfrotto for certain outings when I need to have a more steady support for my camera. The day I got my Zipshot I opened the package and let the Zipshot out! It was spectacular.Cons: you have to manually screw in the camera each time, no adjustable height.Pros: Everything else. Yes, I've put my Nikon D5000 on it and it was steady as could be. If you use it properly it really will hold that small dslr. This week I used it at a school event to video the performance. It's so light that you really don't notice that you're carrying it. Strong silent type

You may look at the price of this fan and say, "Hey! I can buy four fans at Home Depot for that amount!" And those four fans will be noisy, rattling affairs that won't move air and won't last a year. This baby is dead silent (really - I had to get on a step ladder next to it to make sure it was on) and yet it moves 50 CFM with an oversize squirrel-cage fan (the secret) and an excellent solid state Panasonic motor. If you want to do the job right (and only once) spend the money - buy this fan! (And no - I don't work for Panasonic or own their stock.) 5/5 T. Hamel (Morgan Hill, CA USA) - See all my reviews, February 27, 2009

    Worth the money

Was taken aback by the price for this fan compared to others. We went to the local big box hardware store where they had a display demonstrating noise levels for fans of three different sound levels, and found that the sound level for this fan supposedly was significantly quieter than the typical fan. It was going in the bathroom next to our family room, so we decided to give it a try.Our old fan was about the size of a shoe box for a kid's pair of shoes, was rated at 50 cfm, and was loud enough that we couldn't hear anything else in the bathroom when it was on. In fact, we could hear it running in other parts of the house, let alone the family room. This new fan is much bigger, about the size of a shoe box for a pair of men's work boots, and also is rated at 50 cfm. But it's so quiet that we specifically have to listen for it to tell that it's on, even when in the bathroom itself. Yet it still draws at least as much air as our old fan... 5/5 J. Zglinicki (S.E. An unexpected surprise

It's always fun to go into a film without any expectations and come out feeling that one has run into an an unexpected gem. Maybe you rented/bought the film just because it was available. Maybe you like Melissa Leo (or any of the other actors) and decided to give it a try just because she was in it. Runaways is a moody, compelling film. You assume you know where the film is going, and admire its subtlety and restraint, although you begin to question some of the choices the main character has made and wonder if this is an underlying weakness in the writing. Then, as the film draws to its conclusion, you realize that all may not be what it seems, and by the end of the film you realize that the writer knew exactly what he was doing. The questions left at the end of the film, its very ambiguity, are what makes this film so absorbing. The relatively short running time (abut 80 minutes) also is a big plus; if the film had been much longer it probably would have upset the delicate balance it... 4/5 Harry O (Leavenworth, KS United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Runaway (DVD) It's always fun to go into a film without any expectations and come out feeling that one has run into an an unexpected gem. Kept Me Intrigued, However....

The ending did not make sense, and I can't say anything more without ruining it for someone else. I enjoyed the film and thought the way it just hinted at the abuse rather than show it in graphic detail very well done--lots of great things about this film, and it kept me interested, kept me hooked. But the ending left me guessing--made very little sense to me at all. 3/5 D. Fadden (Everett, WA) - See all my reviews, January 4, 2010
