Be Strong (Joshua), Putting God's Power to Work in Your Life

Creator: Warren W. Wiersbe | 2010-03-01

With over 4 million volumes in print and used worldwide, these timeless books have provided invaluable insight into the history, meaning, and context of virtually every book in the Bible.

Publisher: David C Cook

About this book
"You Can Make a Difference in Tough Situations" "In war there is no substitute for victory." - General Douglas MacArthur God isn't looking for volunteers, because every Christian is a soldier in the army of the Lord. Some are "good soldiers of Jesus Christ" while others are AWOL or casualties on the battlefield of life. Joshua was one of God's early soldiers on the winning side. Thrust into leadership when Moses died, Joshua took to heart God's instructions about the keys to victory. Putting fear aside and realizing the Lord was his true source of strength, Joshua became God's instrument for bringing the Israelites safely into the Promised Land. As you study the Book of Joshua, you will learn: - The secret of victory over the enemy - How to turn defeat into victory - How to claim your spiritual inheritance now - The dangers of being a "borderline believer"

    Don't miss this one!

This novella is about so much more than the brief summary by the publisher, and frankly doesn't even begin to do this piece justice.Quinn and Libby were high school sweethearts who knew they were meant for each other, and were each others first, for everything. Over the years, as is wont to happen in a long term relationship, misconceptions, misconstrued actions or words, and unsaid feelings can take their toll on what is perceived by everyone as a happy couple. Throw in familial obligations, perceptions on what the "perfect wife", or "provider" should act like, be like, look like, and the pressure of starting a family added into the mix and it is a recipe for disaster, i.e. divorce.Neither Quinn, nor Libby want to take this final step to end their once "ideal" relationship, but struggle to find a way to reinvent who they are now, not what they once were, or think they should be to the other person, but Libby fears divorce may be the only solution... 5/5 booklover1335 for "Seductive Musings" - See all my reviews, May 19, 2009

    Great Love Story

It was nice that the couple in this story were already married and trying to work on getting their marriage back on track. It showed that with work, couples can work out their problems. It also highlights how miscommunication can lead to disaster in a marriage. This is another of my Rough Rider Series favourites. 5/5 Rainey - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Love this book!!!

This book was soo good. Just slightly differant from the others books about the McKay/West clan as it starts with Quinn NOT being the usual over bearing sexual man. He hides that part of himself as if he's afraid it will scare Libby. In the end the one thing he was afraid to show her was the one thing she wanted but was afraid to ask for and they both needed. If you love the others you will love this one. Can't wait for "Cowgirls Don't Cry"(the next in the series)to come out. 5/5 webb228 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not So "Strong" On Hebrew

This Kindle eBook is VERY SERIOUSLY flawed. To wit, the Hebrew words in this "Greek and Hebrew dictionary" are missing, replaced by a series of question marks. Obviously, the Kindle is incapable of displayed Hebrew characters, or at least the Hebrew characters (font type) that were designed for this dictionary. I recommend that you avoid this Kindle ebook. It's all but useless as a Bible study tool. 1/5 Ira W. (Irvine, CA USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Strong's Dictionary of the Bible. Strong's is pretty weak

I purchased Strong's Dictionary to assist in scripture study. Unfortunately, the Hebrew text does not appear anywhere in the book. Not much value here if you can't look anything up or actually see the Hebrew/Greek. I was, however, able to return the book and receive credit from Amazon Customer Service. No problem. By the way, the Easton's Dictionary is absolutely perfect with its ability to cross reference as the preferred dictionary. 1/5 rp3333 (St Louis, MO) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Miklal Software Solutions offers Strong's Hebrew Dictionary, a perfect complement to their Strong's Greek Dictionary, providing yet another must-have tool in e-book format.Navigation is among the best on Kindle. Rather than being read in sequence, reference works such as this have a challenge in making navigation simple enough to make it useful. Buy this book only if you have to

This book is required by the college where I teach, otherwise I would not use it in class. It's poorly researched. Information is presented in sweeping generalizations. The authors never discuss the nature and scope of sociological research. As a result, studies that merely "suggest" certain trends are given equal weight and emphasis as more rigorous, conclusive research. In many chapters, the authors contradict themselves from one page to the next. As a college instructor, I have had find extensive supplementary material to correct many of the mistakes in this text.Another issue of importance for college students is the cost of this barely useful text. This looseleaf edition, while inconvenient (yes, you need a binder), is significantly cheaper than the hardcover edition. If you are required by your school to waste your money on this book, it makes sense to purchase the cheaper edition. 2/5 Imperatrix "imperatrix" (Bronx, NY USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cengage Advantage Books: The Marriage & Family Experience: Intimate Relationships in a Changing Society (Thomson Advantage Books) (Loose Leaf) This book is required by the college where I teach, otherwise I would not use it in class. Generalizations and presumptions! 11th edition

I was recently enrolled in a college course at UNT on 'Marriage and Family'. Unfortunately, this was the textbook the instructor insisted on using. The book is filled with generalizations about how different genders and races raise their children, many of the generalizations are stated without any source. At times it seems as though the author's only intention is to get the readers teeth grinding with anger. The chapters would go on and on about presumptions that I feel the author's know very little about. One source was a survey from 30 years ago(!)A survey from 1978 may hold little weight in 2008. There was little info on couples who choose to NOT have children, is a childless couple not a 'family'? If you are currently enrolled in a class that uses this text book, just keep the real world in perspective, and take the authors opinion with a grain of salt. After finishing the course a few weeks back, I finally got the opportunity to return the book to it's proper location (a... 1/5 Reviewer82 (Rockwall, TX) - See all my reviews This review is from: The Marriage and Family Experience: Intimate Relationships in a Changing Society (Hardcover) I was recently enrolled in a college course at UNT on 'Marriage and Family'. gets the job done

well had to get this book for a college course. thankfully, my teacher wasn't so dependant on the books first times, or this would be a disaster.it took about THREE(3) weeks to receive this book.and as my own fault i didn't read the "looseleaf" at the end. so that means it comes with holes! be prepare to have a binder.so yea, my real complaint this thing took so long to be sent, now stuck with this since forbid how long it will take to get another one! guess thats what get for doing these things not a week before school startsSo be careful and read the descriptions folks! Beats Zondervan's "Strongest Strong's" by a mile!

Ok. I thought I had the "Strongest" concordance, but when I picked this one up and looked at it, I realized that I had fallen prey to a marketeer's clever play on words. Nelson's New Strong's Expanded Exhaustive Concordance blow's Zondervan's out of the water. The substantially expanded Greek and Hebrew dictionary definitions alone make this volume indispensible to any student of God's Word who owns a KJV. Like the "Strongest", it has all of the nice extras like a complete topical index of the Scriptures, and convenient alphabetical page markings. It is about twice as thick as Zondervan's concordance, partly because of the 600+ pages of Greek and Hebrew dictionaries(Compared to about 200 in the competitor's volume.), and partly becuase the print is larger (and WAY clearer and easier to read) than Zondervan's. The only thing "stronger" about the competitor's book is a better quality binding. The Power of Strong's with the Insight of Vine

Finally, a Strong's concordance with the insight of Vine's dictionary.Strong's has long been recognized as THE concordance for the KJV. One of the most critical and highly criticized area of Strong's is the Greek and Hebrew dictionaries. Some have felt that these dictionaries can sometimes lead the reader to a false conclusion that these definitions are the only meaning to the words defined. Now with Vine's insights added to many of the Words, this complaint is lessened. Even before this edition of Strong's, many got by with the definitions that were found in the dictionaries. Now with the insights of Vine's dictionary, these definitions are more accurate and should give one added information and better clarification for many words found in the Bible.Highly recommended. 5/5 G. Strong's Expanded Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible

This is a fairly comprehensive work on the details of theOld and New Testament vocabulary. There are good renditionsof the Hebrew and Greek dictionaries. Each word contains aname, definition and Biblical reference. The words of the Saviorare highlighted in red for ease of identification. For instance, the word "Abba" is aramaic for father. This book would beinvaluable as a scholastic research document for biblicalscholars, language enthusiasts, historians and a wide constituency of academicians both here and abroad.

A. This concordance is an excellent tool for the serious student of the Bible. It is very useful to cross-reference words, see the original meaning in Hebrew and Greek. We have enjoyed using it immensely. 5/5 Sergio Sales Reyes (México, DF Mexico) - See all my reviews, January 9, 2007

    Great Tool!

This is an excelent tool for anyone who is studying the scriptures (bible) from beginners to those who are looking for a deeper understanding of the scriptures or just need to look something up (it is a concordance). Strong's has a number system that has been used for over a century and no wonder why! It is very efficient and especialy useful for those studying hebrew/greek, exegesis, etc. I highly recommend this product for any serious scriptures student! I also recommend [[ASIN:0785245677 Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary Of Old And New Testament Words Limited, Deluxe Edition](These two work well together) 5/5 Elid Felix "Elid_ben_YAH" (San Leandro, CA US) - See all my reviews, January 14, 2008

    sooo much better

Lori O'Clare nails it with Strong, Sleek and Sinful. FBI agent Kylie Donovan is undercover to catch an online child predator. Because of her youthful appearance, she is able to pretend to be a college student doing a thesis on teen behavior. Perry Flynn is a police detective that knows there is a connection between the teens popping up missing or murdered in his town but for some reason his chief is blocking him from fully investigating this.Perry is a dedicated hero and he will do anything to prevent his nieces from ending up a victim. In the age of twitter, blogs and other social websites,he knows his four nieces are vulnerable to the sexual predators who use the internet to lure out young females. He is immediately suspicious of Kylie a college student from Kansas who has befriended Dani, his most rebellious niece. The story was really interesting as Kylie tries to keep her identity a secret from Perry since the killer could very well be an officer on the... 4/5 C. plot holes

The characters are great. The tension between them exciting. But the plot holes. You could drive a 747 thru them. Everyone decides early that a local cop is involved in the disappearances. The heroine is stalked by someone in a Sururban. How hard is it to get a list of all local cops owning a Surburban. How hard is it for real FBI cyber expert to eliminate some of the cops in the local group. After all, this is a local precinct, not the entire Chicago police department. Then there are the teens. Teenage girls are not this stupid. Savvy teens with a cop for an uncle, finding out that girls are being lured to meeting from someone they met on the internet, deliberately agreeing to meet someone from the internet. No way. If they were playing Nancy Drew Maybe, but Nancy always came with a pack of helpers.SpoilersAlso how did the killers hook up? Never explained. (or else that was in the parts I skipped.)And the end. Problem solved, and the heroine goes off... 1/5 bag (Baltimore MD) - See all my reviews This review is from: Strong, Sleek and Sinful (Mass Market Paperback) The characters are great. Interesting story concept...

The concept of the story sucked me in. I really wanted to like it. I will admit to being an eternal optimist when it comes to books. Surely, I don't dislike this author as much as I think I do. Surely, I will not resent spending hours of my life reading something I will not like. Yeah, I'm the freaking Don Quixote of romance novels.I liked Perry, even though I thought he was a bit overstepping with his sister's kids. (The sister was the widow of a police officer, with 3 daughters) I really liked Kylie. She overcame her issues and makes a difference in the world. Tough girl, and I mean that in the best possible way. But Perry and Kylie together did not work for me. At all. Which brings me to the biggest problem I have with Ms. O'Clare's work. To quote the song, There's no sex in violence. Except in the "L" book and in this one, apparently. I hated Tall, Dark and Deadly so much I have blocked it from my mind, and thus, can't remember if violence=big turn on in that one. I... 2/5 RVAbooklover "Sharon" (Richmond, Va United States) - See all my reviews, October 31, 2010
