  Let me start off by saying that I have absolutely no experience playing cello, so I don't have a lot of knowledge of the instrument to compare it to.PROS:That being said, I think this is an amazing cello for the price. Considering that most "beginner" cellos in a music store start out around $1,000, finding a cello that sounds good at all for $200 is great.   Great-Amazing

  This cello I ordered Sunday evening along with a book and it arrived today (Wednesday). I got it out and played, I very enjoyed it and it is well worth your money. I have enjoyed playing and can't wait to play even more on it. I recommend that if you don't want to spend upwards of like 3,000 - 10,000 and don't know where to start, This is a excellent thing to start out on.   Overall, I am pleased with my new cello, because it came with strings, end pin protector, cello rosin, cello cover, and French bow. I was surprised I did not find any packaged extra strings. I was also surprised to see that some hair came out from the bow very easily, which almost led me to believe that this bow needed re-hairing. It seems that this instrument can produce a good resonating forward sound, which at times have to control by backing the note dynamics off. I was not able to find a logo indicating where this cello was originally made at. The bridge was slightly too high. Because my original plan was to use the instrument in my church only and not professionally, this full-size instrument works very well with me.   Beautiful Cello--bad strings

  What a gorgeous cello! Nice "practice" cello---but it immediately needed new strings, and the pegs won't hold. We're still working on it and after new strings plus some peg dope (thank you Sharmusic.com), the pegs still won't hold the tuned strings.   Great case for students

  I feel I can speak confidently about this case and my experience and hope it will help someone. My son started playing cello in 4th grade. I was nervous because we purchased a nice quality cello for him and wanted to make sure it was protected. Since he could not carry it on and off the bus everyday we arranged for him to keep the cello at school. I wanted a hard case that was light, had wheels, was inexpensive, and would really protect the instrument from other students if they kicked or hit the bag, intentional or not. I love the fact this case has a lock on it. Of course it is a cheap lock and could be picked, but it is a deterent. Anyways, we received the case and there are two wheels and "feet" to allow the case to stand up. One foot was missing and a replcement was never sent even though I contacted the seller. One of the handles came off that allowed you to roll the case easily with light wear. The fabric is easy to puncture in a school atmosphere, but the case has good padding... 4/5 Jessica A.   Looks great, has all the right compartments but it is student grade. Within a month's use I had a broken strap and wheel. I suggest the fiberglass case if you need a more sturdy carrier.   Fabulous Instrument

  I just got this instrument about 20 minutes before the UPS was going to close which was nice but anyways, just utterly fabulous instrument, what you get is all you need. No need for super sensitive strings or anything and the bow is more than good enough for this packaged price. I took the instrument out and UNLIKE OTHERS used my brain and wondered why would they not set the bridge? hmmm MAYBE TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE AMAZING INSTRUMENT. So i set the bridge pretty easily with help from my mom since i didn't feel comfortable tightening the strings on the finger board and just slipped the bridge in the center the the f-holes, you'll notice little notches in the center on the f-holes and just put the bridge their but remember to place it a bit closer to the soundpost which is on the left side of the instrument and also tilt the bridge a bit backwards so when you tighten the strings it doesn't bend the bridge.   Good Cello for Students

  Hi, I just purchased this Cello for my son who is in his first year of Middle School Orchestra. I found the price very affordable and the condition/quality of the instrument to be excellent. This is a good Cello for students who are taking lessons. When I did the math, I found this purchase to be a better value than renting a Cello with insurance from the local music store. Here is a example from my local music store's rental prices. Rates were $67 for the 1st 3 months, then $50 per month there after. Plus insurance of $8 per month. Therefore if school is in session for 9 months, I was looking at $367 for the school year (Not counting Insurance). Mind you that's just for the Cello. No extra's like extra case, strings or rosin would come with your rental. However that's just my opinion, what do I know? So I made a appointment to meet with my son's Orchestra teacher. She confirmed it was the correct size (4/4), setup the bridge, tuned the instrument, and stated that it met her standards... 5/5 Theodore P.   This cello is perfect for the price I paid. Though I understand one reviewer received no cello rosin at all, my cello came with everything it said it would. I even got a violin tuning pipe, not that it is that much help. I agree that the bow is slightly warped (looking on it straight down)but that has not hindered my playing.   Great buy!

  Beautiful cello. It sounds great. I got everything I was suppose to get.. stand works great.. Everything was perfect excet for the bow.. It was really warped... And I really hate the case.. it offers little protection... basically it protects from scratches, cosmetic stuff.. which is the least of my worries for a practicing cello for a newbie.. I wouldn't let the crappy bow and cheapo bag be a reason to not buy this.. For the very low price that this is, it's a fantastic deal.. I do have a hard time keeping it tuned, but I don't know if that's my fault or if it's the cello..My story is, I didn't know I needed to put the rosin on the bow.. first time I had ever even held a bow! I was trying to tighten the strings to just see what it basically sounded like.. it was HORRIBLE! So I'd tighten the strings, rub the bow across it. over and over.. until, SNAP!!!!!!!!!   Sounds good if serviced by a luthier

  Out of the box this cellow was unpleasant sounding. Took it to a luthier, he did the following:1- Shaved the knot2- Adjusted sound post3- Moved the tail piece 1" down and removed 3 fine tuners (C, G, and D)4- Replaced the strings with HelicoresThe results were amazing. It sounds good now. It is mellow with a hint of spark. It cost about $110 extra and it was all worth it.   I had to take it in for adjustment - spent another $400

  The strings are all wrong. Wrong size - way too big and horrible. Toss the extra that come with the cello and buy some Helicores. The bridge needs adjusting or replacement. The fine tuners are trash and you will need to replace the tailpiece. I was so excited when I purchased this cello (a beginning adult) but then my cello teacher ate it alive and then I had to take it to a Luthier to get it to have a quality sound.   Not as bad as most reviews would suggest.

  I've only had it a day, but played it for about 40 minutes after spending about 10 minutes on setup and tuning. Overall it's a well build instrument with decent woods. It has a good tone, but the cheap strings kill the sound a little. The A and D are very shrill and tinny (yes, I rosined properly), but the G and C are acceptable. The bow is OK, mid grade - I was lucky to receive a straight bow and not have any bad luck with damage to the instrument during shipping. The soundpost was intact and there were only a few minor dings on the spruce top (it'll accrue more over time anyway). Do not go by the Amazon photos as a guide on to what to expect. The tail piece is ebony, but not black ebony or even dyed. It is more of a rosewood look (but definitely ebony, because the grain is so tight). I'm not sure about the quality of the fine tuners, but I'm considering just getting a real Macassar ebony tail and ditching the fine tuners.
