    Good, inexpensive set of strings

I chose D'Addario strings for my cello for 2 reasons: 1) I've knew the brand name and have always been satisfied with D'Addario guitar strings; 2) less expensive than similar cello string sets.Bottom line: unless you're looking to spend 150+ on gut strings, this is the way to go. 4/5 RBelomo (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Dead D

The D string rings a little Dead but the C really reings out. I use them on a fretted bass mandolin cello and use a pick so I am not rating this for a bowed instrument. 4/5 Kris J. Galusha "Krijoga" (Kansas City, MO) - See all my reviews, February 5, 2007

The ONLY A string worth its price tag

I have been a cellist for some time and the Larsen A string is the only string that gives you a full warm bodied EVEN sound. These are worth the extra bucks. One caveat is that they only last for 2 - 3 months tops. Still, you can't get sound like this from other strings. I have tried! 5/5 Samgee "thorntoncreek" - See all my reviews This review is from: Larsen Soloist 4/4 Cello A String Medium Alloy-Steel I have been a cellist for some time and the Larsen A string is the only string that gives you a full warm bodied EVEN sound. Nice!

I love playing my cello, but for some reason the string that came with it was not very high quality and "squaked" a lot. the Larsen string is durable, but, more importantly, has a wonderful, clear tone. in spite of its price, I would recommend getting it. 5/5 Zyoder4 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Set D'Addario Helicore Cello Strings

I asked a professional cellist for cello string recommendations and also where I could get the best prices online. He recommended these strings for me and cited some popular suppliers he thought had good prices. I looked at their prices and decided to see if Amazon even carried these. I was happily surprised to see they did AND at a lower price than any other place I searched. Love the G and C strings

This is the first time I've tried Helicore Strings. The two lower strings have a warm, full sound and respond quickly. However, the A string is so thin that I literally cut my finger on it! It sounds thin and wirey. The D string is somewhat better. The next time I need strings I will purchase the C and G Helicore only. 4/5 Karen Ahramjian - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Amazing Strings

When i was thinking about changing my intrument strings, i searched for some recommendations. One of those mentioned this helicore strings set as one real interesting because it was not so expensive and because it souded really good. So i decided to try it on and i found that the recomendations was right. It really sounds clear and soft, just the way i was searching for, and, the most important, it was not so expensive. I really recommend it. 5/5 Raphael - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) They're what you start with

In the vast world of strings for the 4-stringed instruments these are not exactly spectacular. An understatement, really, but that doesn't matter when you're first starting out. To be perfectly blunt, if you're just getting started, you're not going to notice a difference between these strings and any other string for several years. If you spent less than about $2k on your instrument, you really might as well get these. They're cheap, and they do what they're supposed to do. 4/5 Sam Roark "Sam" - See all my reviews This review is from: Super Sensitive Steelcore 4/4 Cello Strings: Set (Electronics) In the vast world of strings for the 4-stringed instruments these are not exactly spectacular. Good for the money

These are the more generic brand of strings, they dont really have as good of sound quality as theyer making it sound. However these are good for what you pay for them, they are also a good string for beginers or students. But you would never see a professional using these and thats because they are not very good, there are better strings for when a student or beginer whants so take it to the next step. I have used these ever since I started playing the cello and I just dont think they measuer up to other brands, but for the time i started and was only begining they were a good string for my level. 3/5 Karen Michels (Colorado) - See all my reviews, June 4, 2007

    OK for beginners

I am a violinist of 15+ years. I remember using this brand when I first started playing. I also remember breaking strings all the time - my mother can attest to this. Once I started buying my own strings in high school I bought Dominant; though more expensive, the quality of the sound improved and the strings didn't break as often. My 9yr old sister just started playing cello. I will be gifting her a full set of Dominant strings. Oh, the joy of being the baby and getting spoiled rotten. :) 2/5 kxvc - See all my reviews This review is from: Super Sensitive Steelcore 4/4 Cello Strings: Set (Electronics) I am a violinist of 15+ years. 3 good reasons for a purchase

I tested Spirocore medium for C and G.3 good reasons for a purchase:* Solved the problem of lazy start. Spirocores start immediately.* Give a beautiful, rich sound in the lower notes.* They have an homogeneous sound across both lower stringsAdvice: Be patient and wait at least two weeks before deciding if they are good for you or not. They need a stabilisation time measurable in several days. 5/5 D. Aguero (France) - See all my reviews, June 29, 2011

    Really high quality strings

For advanced cellists these may seem scratchy at first, but once they are broken in, you will never go back to Pirazzis or Larsens on the C or G string. They are more expensive, but WORTH it and last a longer time than most C or G strings. 4/5 Samgee "thorntoncreek" - See all my reviews This review is from: Thomastik-Infeld Spirocore 4/4 Cello C String - Tungsten/Steel - Medium Gauge For advanced cellists these may seem scratchy at first, but once they are broken in, you will never go back to Pirazzis or Larsens on the C or G string. Great String!!!

Have patience. When I first put the string on, it sounded horrible! But I went out of town and came back a week later and the string sound PERFECT!!!!! I guess it needed to settle into the cello. The string adds such a glorious warmth & depth to my lower notes. That is, if you like that for your cello. Yes, it is expensive, but it is well worth it. 4/5 M. Great Value

A great upgrade from the factory strings that come with a student cello at a reasonable price-point. The Helicore strings are the best but you will pay more than double for them and are probably a better option if you have graduated beyond the learner stage. We put these on my son's cello after a year with the factory strings and he was very happy with the improvement. For someone starting out these strings will make your cello sound and play a lot better. 5/5 HowzitUSA - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Beautiful

So I've been playing the cello for a long time now I'm guessing for three years, and I have got to say that these are so beautiful in such a way that's it's amazing that it is this cheap. The strings have the warmth and resonance of gut, but have the tuning stability of steel and synthetic strings. The bow response is absolutely beautiful, and the silk color code is unique. If you are looking for a professional grade string you have definitely got one. A great buy!UPDATE: After a month they go a bit false and lose their clearness and warmth. 5/5 CelloManJerell - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
